On May 16, 2025, a mixed team of McGuire and Hester employees including both union crew members and office staff, joined forces in Sacramento to support a volunteer improvement project for the Ronald McDonald House Charities, located near the UC Davis Medical Center. The event was organized in partnership with Turner Construction, who invited us to contribute our time, labor, and materials to support families staying at the facility during their children’s medical care. Our team helped meet a real structural need: improving access and comfort through new path installation, repairs, and landscape work. #StrongerTogether #BuiltWithPurpose

Together, the team helped transform the grounds by:
- Donating materials, with special thanks to Site One and Imperial for their generous support.
- Installing redwood headers along a 600-foot decomposed granite path, providing a peaceful walking area for families
- Performing irrigation repairs, weed removal, and landscape beautification

This improved outdoor space offers temporary residents a calming environment during incredibly challenging times. A place to walk, reflect, and find a moment of peace. Take a look below at some of our team members at work :

But just as meaningful was what we gained in return: a deeper sense of connection, shared purpose, and the reminder that building community goes far beyond the jobsite.

A moment of gratitude for our Team Members who were involved:
- Arnie Garcia
- Mike Ridino
- Brooks Taylor
- Tim Hester
- Brian Unruh
- Jeff Hoebel
- Union Labor Involvement, including:
- Luis Siva, Foreman
- Eugenio Jiminez
- Jesus Ochoa Vazquez
- Alberto Calderon
Special thanks to our partners at Turner Construction for organizing and collaboration on this meaningful effort.
This volunteer day reflects McGuire and Hester’s Community core value of demonstrating how we support and uplift the people and places around us. It also ties directly into our strategic anchors:
- Cultivate an Exceptional People Environment by uniting our teams through service
- Prioritize Client Partnership through our collaboration with Turner Construction
- Drive Operational Excellence by delivering craftsmanship and care even in volunteer work

To close, here is a quote by our project manager Andrew Jenco:
“Contributing to the Ronald McDonald House was a very humbling experience. I’m proud to have been involved and very glad to have M&H team members that were willing to donate their time and energy. Knowing that our donated work will create a welcoming space for families that are going through a tough time made the effort worthwhile.” – Andrew Jenco
