It can be all too easy to see the money we spend on IT as just a cost with little ROI. Costs in any business should be minimized and as we seek to cut costs we instinctively question why we even need an IT department. In my humble opinion this is an out of date view and one that should be replaced with a more modern concept: the Force Multiplier.
One of the primary ways IT acts as a force multiplier is by automating and optimizing routine tasks and processes.
Manual and time-consuming activities can be replaced by intelligent systems and software, allowing employees to focus their time and energy on more strategic and value-added initiatives. For example, we are partnering with M&H’s resource group, targeting some of the our last remaining employees who still submit their timesheets on paper, freeing up time for them and our payroll staff.
Furthermore, IT empowers companies to make data-driven decisions.
These insights enable companies to make informed decisions, identify new business opportunities, and devise strategies for growth. Right now we are “unlocking” Casey Fogli’s portfolio, allowing their team to get instant feedback on how well their projects are performing.
Another vital aspect of IT as a force multiplier is its role in fostering collaboration and communication within and beyond the organization.
Us all having just gone through Covid and the changes required should now be aware of the benefit of a modern stack of collaborative tools. IT goes without saying that Randy M’s work was critical in keeping everything running smoothly.
IT also strengthens a company’s security posture in an increasingly digital world.
With the rise of cyber threats, protecting sensitive data and systems is paramount. Our IT department has deployed state-of-the-art security solutions, including firewalls, encryption, and multi-factor authentication, to safeguard company assets and mitigate risks. We are also looking at “softer” tools such as phishing testing and required trainings to steer behavior and keep us and our digital assets safe
In conclusion, I believe IT acts as a force multiplier for all of our companies, amplifying their capabilities and propelling them towards success.
By automating processes, leveraging data insights, enabling collaboration, and bolstering security, IT empowers organizations to achieve their goals and stay ahead in a rapidly evolving business landscape. Embracing technology and fostering a culture of innovation and digital transformation are essential for us to harness the full potential of IT and thrive in today’s competitive environment.
