Celebrating the BeWell Campus Topping-Off Ceremony

by Alexis Olsen

We at McGuire and Hester are thrilled to share a monumental milestone in our journey toward expanding regional health and wellness resources. Team members, project partners, and community representatives recently gathered to celebrate the Topping-Off Ceremony of Building B at the San Joaquin BeWell Campus!

The tradition of a "topping-off" ceremony marks the placement of the final structural beam, signifying that a building has reached its maximum height. The beam signing gives partners, workers, and community members the opportunity to sign one of the final steel beams, leaving their mark on the project. It’s a moment to pause, celebrate safety, and honor the collective hard work that brings a blueprint to life.

A Generational Investment

This project is about far more than just pouring concrete and raising steel. The San Joaquin BeWell Campus represents a forward-looking commitment to the health and wellness of our community.

"The BeWell Campus is built not only for today’s needs, but for the needs of our children and grandchildren. This is a generational investment." - Supervisor Robert Rickman

Once complete, this state-of-the-art facility will drastically expand mental health and wellness resources across San Joaquin County, serving as a beacon of care, recovery, and long-term community well-being.

Highlights from the Celebration

The atmosphere on-site was one of pride, collaboration, and excitement for the future. Key moments from the day included:

  • Signing the Beam: In keeping with tradition, field and office team members alike signed their names on the final beam, cementing their place in the history of the campus before it was hoisted into the sky.
  • Expert Partnership: A huge thank you to The Herrick Corporation, who provided and erected the structural steel that forms the backbone of this incredible facility.
  • Community BBQ: The hard work of the entire crew was celebrated with a team BBQ and remarks emphasizing the profound, long-term impact this campus will have on local families.

What's Next?

With the structural steel officially in place, the project continues to push forward at an incredible pace. Construction is moving smoothly, and we are currently on track to complete Building B by April of next year.

We are incredibly proud of the shared effort and dedication driving this project forward. Thank you to everyone involved in building infrastructure that will support care and healing for generations to come!
