Let’s celebrate McGuire and Hester’s recent victories! Our team has secured some fantastic opportunities that highlight our commitment to excellence and innovation in construction.
Over the last few months, McGuire and Hester management has done some homework to define our place in our market better and help us stand out from our competition. In doing so, we asked ourselves, “What qualities do we believe we possess or need to augment to distinguish ourselves from our competitors and thrive in what has become a much tighter market?” We call these qualities our Strategic Anchors.
The concrete pumping process involves multiple stages, from equipment setup and operation to material delivery and clean-up. Each stage carries its own set of risks. We can implement comprehensive risk management strategies by fostering a good safety culture, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and developing safe work procedures.

In my prior life at a public accounting firm, I handled real estate development and construction clients, among other industries. None of my real estate clients owned construction companies, and only a few of my construction clients developed their own real estate. While working at McGuire and Hester and seeing jobs we had with various real estate developers, hearing field management questioning the over-engineering, and the typical scratching of the head, “Why are they having us do that,” we asked ourselves, “Why not us? Why don’t we start developing our own real estate projects?”
We started planning for the company picnic early this year to secure a spot between Sacramento and the Bay Area and find a date that worked for most people. We considered many ideas and suggestions to make this event very family-oriented. Finally, we settled on June 3rd at Cordelia Community Park. It has ample space; it is clean and offers multiple play areas.
It’s summertime again and that means it’s time to introduce some of our summer interns! We asked them a few fun questions to help us get to know them a bit better.
